*Information on UCU Strikes*

Brookes UCU expresses full support for colleagues currently involved in the dispute for fair pensions. However, as a post-92 institution, Oxford Brookes is not part of the dispute.

A fuller explanation of why Brookes is not on strike, as well as some information on the background of the dispute, can be found here.

A useful article on the reasons for the strike can be found here.

And if anybody would like to donate to the UCU strike fund, they can do so here.

Welcome to the Oxford Brookes University UCU.

If you are not yet a member, you can join UCU online today.

The University and College Union (UCU) represents more than 120,000 academics, lecturers, trainers, instructors, researchers, managers, administrators, computer staff, librarians and postgraduates in universities, colleges, prisons, adult education and training organisations across the UK. UCU is the largest post-school union in the world: a force working for educators and education that employers and the government cannot ignore. It was formed on 1 June 2006 by the amalgamation of two strong partners – the Association of University Teachers (AUT) and NATFHE-the University & College Lecturers’ Union – who shared a long history of defending and advancing educators’ employment and professional interests.

At Oxford Brookes we represent the collective interests of academic and academic-related staff. We have over 300 members.

On this website, you will find information about our local campaigns, activities, and resources. You can also find information about the help and advice your union can provide you with on all employment-related matters.

We strive to keep our website up to date, posting regular updates on local meetings and uploading electronic copies of our newsletters.  If you have any suggestions, please email the Branch Administrator.
